What an amazing find.Opportunity to stay in a 300+ year old house with all its quirkiness and character that is missing from modern bland hotels.James and Sarah did a wonderful job as our hosts and nothing was too much trouble.Comfortable bed and lovely breakfast in the morning.Will definitely go back next time we visit the area.

What a gem. We stayed in the coach house, the room was very stylish and comfortable. Nice little touches such as fresh milk and charging points. Hosts made you feel right at home and provide a fabulous breakfast. Stayed two nights en route and wished we could stay more. Will do so again in future. Fabulous location and easy walking distance to local services and attractions.

Welcoming host, beautiful main house, ideal position for us to visit Ironbridge.Great breakfast, comfortable bed and all facilities required.But there is restricted height in the Coach House and the room is small and only has a skylight, no window.We wouldn't recommend for anyone tall, particularly in the shower.But it was OK for one night.

Very friendly and accommodating. The House is gorgeous our room was spotless and really nice , huge bed ! Quiet. Breakfast was great we had full English cooked perfectly and really set us up for the day. Good location too ironbridge which is also worth a visit. All in all loved our stay and will stay there again without hesitation.

A fabulous well kept piece of history.The Calcutts house was built in 1690, well before the Iron bridge, but still has all the charm and services of a new home.The best asset of this home is James and Sarah, they were beautiful hosts.

Booked for an overnight stay. The room was lovely with a huge four-poster bed. The decor throughout was lovely, and the whole place clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice of items on the menu.

Just a single night bed and breakfast but Calcutts House were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Very clean (especially the en-suite bathroom), all facilities as expected and a lovely breakfast to start the following day off with. Ample on-site car parking too. Explore the local area! Including the Maws Craft Centre just around the corner...

Loved the place altogether. Nice people, excellent breakfast with lots of choice and a lovely view of the rustic and interesting garden from the toilet window. Interesting old pubs with proper beer nearby. We’ll come again.

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely 18th century B&B. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and the accommodation comfortable. The breakfast was perfect with a good choice of options and the breakfast room lovely and sociable.The car park felt secure for our classic car. Calcutts House is in a great location for the Ironbridge Gorge. Jackfield tile museum is a couple of hundred years away, there are two pubs serving food within a few minutes walk and the former railway is now a footpath leading directly to the Iron Bridge a pleasant (and flat!) 15 minutes easy stroll away.We'd happily go there again!

James was a fantastic host, welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. Rooms were spotlessly clean very cosy. Breakfast was also very good and once again James was veryattentive the only small downside was check-out is very early at 10pm.. Calcutts is a short walking distance to ironbridge via an abandoned railway track. The Black Swan pub is two mins away and serves great food at a reasonable price. Will definitely stay again

We had just 1 night at Calcutts house, the room was lovely, the bed comfortable, it was a nice walk into Ironbridge and on arrival we asked where was nice to eat, the half moon was recommended and we had a beautiful meal there.Breakfast was a really good choice of cereal, fruit, cooked breakfast and fresh coffee, it was a really enjoyable stay.

Our stay was in a coach house separate to the actual house. I requested a ground floor room and this was a beautifully decorated room. We stayed in January. Our room was cosy but very cold. The heating took time to heat the room up. The bathroom had no heating apart from a towel rail. This is our only criticism though. Our hosts were very friendly,our breakfast exactly what we had ordered. We would still stay here again but maybe in warmer times.

We had a pleasant two night stay in one of the four poster bedrooms. Large comfortable well equipped clean rooms. Quiet location with plenty of on site parking. Couple of hundred meters from the Black Swan pub. Popular with excellent food. James and Sarah very helpful and make a smashing breakfast. Recommended.

We were entertaining our friends who were on a friendship tour of Scotland England and Germany. So we wanted to impress them with the history of our area and accommodate them in nice historical surroundings. Calcutts House was perfect. They loved it, and so did my wife and i. Our hosts were excellent friendly and very welcoming. The rooms were cozy and comfortable. We hope we will return again in the not-to-distant future?.

We had a wedding reception to go to on the Saturday Evening so did not need a large hotel to stop at.We would have liked to spend more than one night in Ironbridge.We were made very welcome on arrival and the room did not disappoint, staying in the Prince William of Orange Room. The breakfast the next day was lovely, with plenty of choice.We have stopped in Ironbridge before, but not this side of the river.It is in a lovely setting,ideally located for visiting the heritage sites with a couple of pubs nearby if only wish to go out walking.I would recommend a stay here and look forward to paying another visit in the future.

This is mySecond visit to Calcutts. First visit I stayed in the coach house with a friend and 2nd the Lord Dundonald with my Mum. The room was perfect, lovely huge 4 poster bed, very clean and homely. It is located on the first floor. The stairs are quite steep which I thought may have been a problem for my mum who is 75, however, she managed them fine using the hand rail. The house itself is a fantastic location with on sight parking which is definitely a bonus. The hosts have been warm and friendly on both occasions and very flexible with the arrival snd departure times. Good communication after I had made the bookings . Had breakfast on both occasions which was delicious both times. You get a good choice and pre order. There is alovely public house about 5 mins walk away which was ideal for our evening meal. You are located near all the museums and a short drive into ironbridge centre. Bridgenorth is about 25-30 mins drive away and lots of small villages en-route. Can’t fault either of our stays and will definitely be returning.

We stayed 5 nights here. The location is great being in the middle of the Ironbridge world heritage site. We were just round the corner from the Jackfield Tile Museum and the Black Swan pub. All amenities were good and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of items. The host James was very friendly and amenable. Can’t really fault our stay there. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed 4 nights in June 2022. Nice clean spacious room in the Coach House with all usual facilities. This nice Georgian House is situated in a quite spot within walking distance of Iron Bridge and some museums close by. Ideal position to explore the area and further afield.You can choose a variety of breakfast. The full English is very good and of consistent quality, nicely cooked. All round it was good value for money in comparison to what is available in the locality.James and Sarah are very personable hosts and obviously work very hard to ensure their guests enjoy their stay. This is a great place to stay and use as a base for visiting the Ironbridge area. The rooms are all individual and spotlessly clean. Sarah and James are great hosts and look after you really well. It is a really cosy place and you almost feel like you are at home. The breakfast is very tasty and made to order. There are plenty of lovely pubs nearby, which serve food as well as all the places in IRonbridge itself.

CHARMING PERIOD PROPERTY & GREAT HOSTS

James was the perfect host. We had requested an earlier breakfast than usual as we were exhibitors at the local 1940's event and had to be there early to set up. James was happy to do this for us. And the breakfast was excellent.Our only minor downside was the number of small lights in our room - especially the heater - but once we switched off those that we could (TV, plug socket) and covered up the heater light, it was great.

We had a one night stay we had a lovely freindly welcome and the bed was very comfortable great place for visiting the museums and a lovely pub just up the road with lovely food our breakfast was very well presented and cooked beautifully and my gluten intolerance was also catered for we will definitely be back and would definitely recommend

A warm and friendly welcome from James, despite us arriving too early for check in - yet our room was virtually ready! He showed us around the property, encouraged us to use the cosy guest lounge (which we later did; very comfortable) and gave us great directions for nearby Blists Hill, which is a delightful riverside walk away. The bed was comfortable, the shower hot, nice big towels, and breakfast was delicious. It was such a pleasure staying here - it's nearby loads of Ironbridge attractions and has a car park, so you can walk rather than drive, and James and team are such wonderful hosts. We would happily recommend and stay again!

We’ve been wanting to stay here for ages as it’s in a great location for us, but it’s always booked up , we can see why . From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. The room was gorgeous and has everything you need for a stay ( we stayed in coach house) . It’s spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated .breakfast is great and you get lots and all perfectly cooked high standard ingredients. Perfectly situated for (in our opinion) the best pubs in the area and a lot of the museums and Victorian town all within walking distance . Will be back .

WE WERE WELL WELCOMED AT CALCUTTS AS SOON AS WE ARRIVED IN THE CAR PARK AND COULD CHECK IN EARLIER THAN ADVISED.OUR ACCOMMODATION WAS COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN.BREAKFAST ON EACH MORNING WAS SERVED WELL AND WE ENJOYED ALL THE HOSPITALITY WE RECEIVED FROM JAMES WHO LOOKED AFTER US.WE WOULD CERTAINLY STAY HERE AGAIN WHEN VISITING THIS AREA AGAIN.

Lovely, quiet setting. Heard little noise except for the morning bird song. We were warmlywelcomed and great attention was paid to my wife’s dietary requirements. Room was clean and all amenities were to hand. Breakfast was perfectly prepared.

Four retired couples descended on Calcutts at the start of March and were imediately made to feel very welcome by James the host.The house has a wonderful atmosphere of the areas industrial heritage and got us all in the mood for visits to thelocal museum. Each of the rooms were clean and warm with comfortable beds. Breakfast was beautifully cooked.Excellently positioned for a pleasant stroll into Ironbridge and the local Tile Museum, just a short drive up to Blist Hill Museum. Nice pubs in walking distance and their food looks good. Overall excellent couple of nights that reall hit the mark. Thanks James for looking after us so splendidly.

We stayed for three nights in the William Hazeldine room. The room is lovely and big with a king sized bed. We really appreciated the warm welcome from James and the fresh milk for our tea, daily. The breakfasts were delicious and customised which added to the personal touch. James was a friendly host who gave us helpful advice and information. We are very likely to be staying again in the future and would probably book a different room, only due to the bed being a little firm for me (not my husband). We loved the easy walk into Ironbridge and the very reasonable pub just a few minutes down the road. Due to the floods a few places weren’t open but we did everything we wanted to do.

What a great location, welcome and all round perfect night away.Calcutts House is in a great setting being within easy walking distance of Ironbridge but far out enough to hear the lovely birdsong in the morning. Stayed here in December what a lovely guest house we were made to feel welcome and the hospitality was genuine throughout our stay . A lovely warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble - we had to do a Zoom call for work before leaving and Weds were so kindly enabled to check out late and even brought a pot of tea to keep us going.Tucked away at the end of a lane where you think you can’t go any further!Spotlessly clean, simple rooms providing all you could need. In a quiet location,a few minutes drive from Ironbridge with a large car park. James is an excellentfriendly host and made us welcome. The room (Thomas Telfod)was spacious and the bed comfortable with a firm mattress. Good wifi connections and a good breakfast menu. It was a cold weekend and the bathroom was rather cool as a result but the bedroom was warm. Overall it was good value for money and we enjoyed our stay.

I stayed in Novemeber 2021. It's a lovely place - the room was charming, with a large, very comfortable bed. The owners are very welcoming and the full English breakfast in the morning was fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend staying here, if you are visiting the area. Would definitely come back.

Perfect location for visiting Ironbridge and it’s museums. We stayed in one of the barn rooms and were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and set us up foreach day, exploring on foot. Despite a big fall in outside temperatures our room in the Coach House was as warm as the personal welcome from the proprietors. Their knowledge of the locality was useful, and their porridge and black pudding was excellent, as was our bed. This is an historic area, so it felt fitting to stay in a former ironmaster's mansion, which is in pretty good nick considering its age. Recommended.

We stayed at Calcutts whilst on a yarn-dyeing & knitting weekend based at the Maws. Being within walking distance of the weekend’s activities was a real bonus. Calcutts is a gem with beautiful rooms, attentive hosts & delicious breakfasts!

We stayed 4 nights to explore this intersting area. Calcutts house is well placed to visit everything Ironbridge has to offer.Friendly welcome, good facilities and excellent breakfast.Large room, with everything one might need.Personally we don't like foam mattresses but they are difficult to avoid these days.

If you want to eat out locally make sure you book, failed to do so on a Wednesday night snd everywhere was fully booked. Calcutts house is a must if you want to visit ironbridge. Parking is safe and easy. A thoroughly lovely place.

Really the title says it all.The rooms were comfortable, clean and nicely furnished.We were asked to give our breakfast order the evening before and breakfast was exactly as requested and very nicely cooked.Compliments to the chef!The owner was friendly and only wanted us to be comfortable - which we all were.The area is fairly sprawled out but has plenty to see and Ironbridge was within walking distance, if you don't mind a small walk.I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and will stay again myself when we come back to Ironbridge.

James and Sarah are the perfect hosts. They made my stay at Calcutts House extremely comfortable, even adjusting their check-in time for my requirements. The Lord Dundonald room, with its real wooden floors and en-suite was clean and tidy, with well thought-out statement pieces that puts an instant smile on your face. The huge four poster bed was the perfect antidote to a long journey.I woke, after a very comfortable nights sleep, to the smell of bacon being cooked downstairs for breakfast. James was, once again, very welcoming to my needs and Sarah’s excellent English breakfast was the ideal end to a to a lovely stay. You couldn’t ask for much more, and I will certainly be back again.

We had an overnight stay in a room in the Coach House which is in the grounds of the main building. The room was comfortable and spotless. The main building is full of character, provides parking on site and is ideally placed for gentle strolls along the river to most of the main attractions and pubs. James and Sarah were brilliant hosts and the full English (included in the room rate) was to die for. Superb value for money.

Where to start. Excellent location for visiting the area with an easy off road walk to the Iron Bridge. The rooms are impressive on all counts for comfort, cleanliness and a quite food night sleep. The breakfast was the best and the hosts the friendliest toy could wish for.

My husband and I stayed here as part of our Silver wedding anniversary staycation tour.We were most impressed with the greeting from James and our room with a superb four poster bed was immaculate.James gave us suggestions for our local evening meal, the portions at the Half Moon were very large but very good.After a great sleep we were very well looked after at breakfast time and the meal was delicious.Can not fault this lovely place.

Great location for visiting the Ironbridge Gorge museums. Just left the car in Calcutts House car park for the entire stay and walked everywhere such was the convenience of the location. Warm and welcoming hosts providing a wonderfully cooked and hearty breakfast. Originally booked for a three night stay in the Prince William of Orange Room in the Coach House but with enjoying our stay at Calcutts House and with so much to see and do at Ironbridge decided to stay a further night and happily our hosts were able to provide us with an alternative room in the main house, the William Hazeldine. Both rooms provided spacious and comfortable accommodation expected of this 4 star guest house.

Was welcomed warmly by the hosts and the room looked exactly as per the photo and description. The breakfast was lovely and very generous, you are able to select exactly what you want. Calcutts is set in a lovely location near the river and has convenient parking for residents. Be sure to visit the very nearbyJackfield Tile Museum and Fusion Craft Centre, especially their "seconds" shop which have beautiful old fashioned tiles at a great price.

This is a lovely place to stay.Very friendly owners who are keen to help in any way they can. The old house is very nicely furnished, in keeping with the age of the property (apart from the very odd ceiling light in our room!). Rooms are comfortable, well equipped and very clean.There is a very nice garden which we didn't have a chance to sit in but I think may be available for guests at other times.The house is really well situated for Ironbridge and the various museums and historic sites.The breakfast was delicious.I noticed several people saying goodbye as we left were saying "See you later in the year," and I can fully understand why people would go back a second time.

We stayed here for 1 night on our way to Wales. The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was also very good. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. There is a nice pub within walking distance if you require this.

Calcutts House is a gorgeous building with lots of period features and beautiful, individually designed rooms. For our second visit we stayed in the William Hazeldine Room which is French Regency style, very comfortable and spacious. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the Ironbridge Museums and in easy reach of several pubs. Breakfast was delicious and freshly made to order. We would definitely recommend.

We had a great, if short, stay at Culcutts House. It is set in a lovely location above the River Severn and a short distance from The Ironbridge. The room and bathroom were both very clean and tide. The only thing for us that let the room down were the lights, with their coloured cables, and the mats by the bed kept slipping as you stood on them.Breakfast was great and the owners were very welcoming and friendly.

We arrived early than we had arranged and we were allowed to go into our room.We were very impressed with our room which was very large with an impressive king size beds during shower en-suite.There was also a tray with tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate and biscuits, a nice little touch after a long journey.Janes the owner had to help with getting the tv to work which he did.Breakfast was excellent and delicious.It was also lovely to meet Dilys the dog.The hotel is ideally situated for visiting the local area.

What a fabulous B&B conveniently located for all the attractions of Ironbridge and the surrounding area. I stayed with my Mum in The Thomas Telford Room in the separate Coach House which was perfectly placed for her limited mobility. Nothing was too much trouble and James and Sarah the owners, went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable, from ensuring our room was warm and cosy, to all the little extras provided. The delicious breakfast (and homemade marmalade) was the tastiest I’ve had in a long time. We will definitely stay again and I am already recommending to friends far and wide. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Calcutts House and James and Sarah were both very welcoming as hosts.They provided an excellent breakfast each morning and extra tea, toast and coffee was always offered.There are local Inns within walking distance to try out the ales whilst sitting outside overlooking the river. We would stay there again and hope to return to Ironbridge in the future.

We tend to have a break here a couple of times a year. We have stayed in several different rooms and all are comfortable and high quality. Lovely breakfast with lots of options. This time my parents also stayed, we were both in the coach house which is ideal as you almost feel like you have your own cottage. James and Sarah were effortlessly friendly and helpful as usual!

Ideally placed close to all the Ironbridge Gorge attractions, Calcutts House is a very welcoming and comfortable place. The hosts, Sarah and James were very friendly and were particularly helpful when I explained that because, on the day of arrival, we were going out for the day with friends and then going for a meal in the evening, the normal check-in time was a problem they gave me our key early, meaning we come come back at our leisure. The other thing i'd mention are the excellent breakfasts. Thanks for a very pleasant stay.

We only stayed one night en route to the Lakes and were very happy with Calcutt's. We stayed in the Stable Rooms which are apart from the main house,but very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and the hosts are lovely!Great location for viewing the Ironbridge area.

We were delightfully greeted for our weekend stay at Calcutts 'Home' in rural Shropshire and well looked after throughout our stay. The area is steeped in industrial history and you're made to feel most wanted and welcomed here as Calcutts offers an ideal base location to explore and to discover. Highly recommended.

A massive thanks to Sarah & James for a lovely stay at Calcutts House, the property has loads of character both inside & out and is very well kept. The breakfasts were really good and tasty and there was a very nice selection for everyone taste to choose from. Sarah & James always ensured that we were catered for which made our break so enjoyable, it was just what we needed, we were both so relaxed & loved our stay.

We were two couples staying over a weekend. The house is really lovely, classic in style, beautifully decorated and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent. James is a gracious host, friendly yet discreet. Minor drawback was that the guest lounge is a bit on the small side and didn't feel like a place to sit and socialise with our friends. The weather was perfect so we were able to walk everywhere with the Tile Museum and the Blists Hill Victorian Town highly recommended. Also several great pubs within easy reach along the river. We would certainly stay here again.

We had a very nice few days staying in the coach house which was cosy with everything we needed. The beds were so comfy. The breakfast was delicious and we felt so welcome. Thank you for a lovely stay and we hope to visit again. Thanks again, Carole and Ray.

Excellent location, James is excellent host, stayed in coach house upper level only criticism mind your head on beams with slope ceiling. Still very comfortable 2 nights Sleep. Breakfast very good options for more toast and tea. Walking distance to Ironbridge around 15 minutes great walks along river banks. The whole experience of the area is fantastic recommend black Swan pub excellent evening meal steak & ale pie worth a go only 5 minute walk.

This is a fantastic place to stay . The rooms are small but very cosy. The owners cannot do enough for you .The breakfast was so nice and well presented. Such attention to detail . Loved the mini gold top milk bottles for our cornflakes and tea. Great location for all amenities. Very good value .Come home feeling chilled. We shall return James !

The hosts were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast had everything you would want, the cooked breakfast was a great way to set up the day. The room we stayed in was not in the main house, it was a nice studio style room. Plenty of little extras; tea, coffee, shower gel. The location was perfect for us, museums, walking routes and pubs nearby. A lovely few nights away.

We had a short break here between Christmas and New Year. Didn’t need to use the car at all. Clean, warm, comfy room, great location and attentive hosts. I like the idea of ordering your breakfast as it avoids unnecessary waste. There is unlimited tea,coffee, toast, fruit and cereals. Would highly recommend. Lounge with information booklets was a nice touch.

Calcutts is a charming B&B in the heart of Ironbridge. The Lord Dundonald room was gorgeous with an enormous 4 poster bed. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Location is excellent with many of the 10 Ironbridge museums + 2 pubs within walking distance. The hosts are friendly and obliging & the rate is very reasonable. Plenty of onsite parking is available. Would highly recommend this B&B.

Calcutts House is a gorgeous b n b set in lovely ironbridge, our room was beautiful large and spacious with a super comfy bed; we were staying New Year’s Eve and there was lots of room and mirrors to get ready, our host was lovely and breakfast was cooked to perfection loved every minute and will certainly be returning x

Ideal setting especially for visiting Waddesdon Manor (NT). We celebrated my husbands 70th here visiting the Manor with its gorgeous Christmas lights. The hotel is a perfect place, rooms lovely, beds extremely comfortable. Unfortunately night traffic was noisy as our room was at the front overlooking the main road. The food was very good and staff great. We would visit again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Calcutts House. It's very good value for money, with welcoming hosts and a fantastic cooked breakfast.Also, it's within walking distance of pubs and (if you can manage a little further - we did - of Ironbridge). We had a brilliant curry at the Pondicherry and a Mediterranean meal at D'arcys at the Station. Loads to see and do in the area and Calcutts House is the perfect location.

The hosts were very welcoming and the breakfast one of the best I have had in a B&B.The room was comfortable but unfortunately would not be suitable for someone tall like my husband.The bathroom was a little small for me to find comfortable but I know my friend in the room opposite was not bothered at all by this.All in all I would definitely recommend.

We had stayed here before a long time ago, this stay was superb, very welcoming hosts, super comfortable and warm room, bed was really comfortable and to wake up to s great breakfast, fresh fruit and cereals followed by large cooked breakfast. Looking forward to returning sooner rather than later.

We stayed in the Coach House and although room was fine and bed was extremely cosy and comfortable we did find the room a little on the cold side and couldn't adjust the radiator!Other than that all very good. Oh, and great location.

We enjoyed our stay at Calcutts House. Good location for exploring the Ironbridge area. One small criticism is that the bedside lights were very dark and low down, made it difficult to read in bed. Would certainly recommend to friends and family.

We were made very welcome by James on arrival and shown to our room in the coach house. All very comfortable. Easy walk to Ironbridge but take a torch if venturing into town at night as unlit bridleway. Good local taxi service and Darcy’s at the station excellent for evening meal but advisable to book in advance. Good well cooked breakfast and overall a lovely relaxing stay. Would certainly recommend.

Calcutts house was a good choice for myself and my companion as it was the ideal location from Ironbridge and its Museums. Its a stones throw from the Tile Museum and 20 minutes walk along the old railway path to Ironbridge village for those who wish to walk. The Guest house has a cottage feel about it and the breakfasts were fantastic served by James who was friendly and courteous throughout our stay.To quote Douglas MacArthur; we'll be back.ps a visit to the woodbridge pub down stream of the river severn is a must.

The B+B is in a great location for visiting the museums and the bridges. There is on site parking. There are places to eat nearby.Our room was in the loft space of the coach house building. It was very small with limited standing areas. The bed was almost on the floor which is not good for less able guests. The bathroom was difficult to get in and out of turning around was nearly impossible and standing upright in the shower was a challenge. You could not dry yourself after the shower in the bathroom. The room had everything we needed and was comfortable just really small. The breakfast was good fresh and hot, fruit cereal and yogurt as well as a choice of cooked. We had a very pleasant stay but check if you are taller that 5ft 7inchs as the room we had would not be suitable.

We really enjoyed our three night stay at Calcutts House. The room had everything we needed, including USB charging points and plenty of storage. We were very well looked after by the hosts and breakfast was delicious, especially liked the fresh fruit salad and yoghurt and the cooked breakfast was always served hot. There is so much to do in the area, museums and the iron bridge itself. Plenty of restaurants and pubs too.

We came as two couples bringing our parents for a weekend break, they had the large four poster bed room and loved it, right up there street, we had one of the larger rooms too which was lovely, a very quirky house, uneven floors and creaky but what you would expect in a house that old, the breakfast as fantastic, lovely fruit selection and cooked breakfast was great. Our only let down was the weather. A very nice and welcoming place to stay.

We were greeted with warm hospitality and provided great breakfasts. The Calcutts House is in a great location and is a very historic home. I was a bit disappointed with the craftsmanship displayed in the modernization attempts made in the home.

Our large room was spotlessly clean, as was our en-suite. The towels were large and luxurious. We had generous amounts of tea, coffee etc. with offers of more if we wanted. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. Lovely breakfasts, plenty of choice and served in a bright and spacious diningroom.The large old house is in a wonderful setting, ideally located to explore the Ironbridge and Coalport and just a short walk to the Tar museum.We will definitely return The Calcutts House.

Checked in around 6pm got a warm welcome from the owner. Shown to our room. Which was a large french feeling to the room. Was attending a wedding up the road. We cannot praise James and Sarah enough for their care during our 3 nights stay at Calcutts House. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was exactly as expected - a very comfortable period bedroom with sympathetic decor. Every breakfast was superb - well cooked with quality products. The location of the Calcutts House was perfect for visiting all the areas many attractions with minimum travel. Our sleep was totally uninterrupted in this quiet rural location. Calcutts was clean and tidy and a lovely big house. The owners were super friendly and couldn’t do enough from you. The stables was part from others and had excellent WiFi. A lovely place to stay and only 5 mins walk to The Black Swan Inn which do a good meal. 15 minutes walk into Ironbridge.

We stayed here for one night in the William Reynolds room in the Coach House. It’s a small but comfortable room although the en-suite might be a tight squeeze if you were on the larger size.The breakfast was enjoyable with good quality sausage and bacon.The fresh salad and yogurt was also very nice. The hosts were very friendly.The location was great. We had a short walk to a lovely pub with good food and then a 25 minute walk to see the infamous Ironbridge.Would recommend this establishment to anyone wishing to stay in this area.

An extremely comfortable stay.The host welcomed us with a hot cup of tea and was very hospitable and friendly. We had an enjoyable stay at Calcutts House.The room we had in the coach house isn't the largest as it is in the roof of the building but it was good value for money, the breakfast was excellent and the hosts very friendly.

We enjoyed our short visit here.The room was very nice & the hosts were very pleasant& helpful.

My partner couldn't make it sadly but the welcome was warm & I felt at home. Lovely clean accommodation.HUGE comfy four poster bed & perfectly quiet nights sleep.Good breakfast & great location

James, the host, was more than moderately welcoming. The house is well kept and unique. The Ironbridge is close by (albeit under repairs now). You will enjoy it.

What can i say; a beautiful house in an amazing setting. Friendly, accommodating hossts. We only stayed 2 nights but will be back again. We stayed in the 'coach house'; 3 lovely rooms away from the main house. The location is on the outskirts of the village but its a lovely 15 minute walk into Ironbridge passed 3 country pubs, all who have large outdoor spaces and serve food. I know we had tremendous weather, which always helps, but as i say the b&b is gorgeous in a beautiful, quiet setting!

I honestly can not praise Calcutts guest House highly enough. Lovely accommodation in an beautiful location and as for breakfast well it was superb every day! It was a very pleasant stay. The hospitality was excellent, the breakfast superb, the room in the coach house was comfortable, clean, and warm. The room and bath was small, but the website was very clear on that, so we were not surprised. And the location was excellent. We would stay there again!

Stayed here on Saturday night and had a lovely and chilled couple of days. Arrived early on Saturday and went exploring around the gorge. On arrival at Calcutts we received a warm reception from the owner. The room was lovely and the bed was amazing, the breakfast the following day was good too. Would of given 5 stars had the check-in time not been so late?!!

After a precarious journey in heavy snow to Calcutts House, we were given a very warm welcome. Our room was spacious and full of character. The large four poster bed gave us a sound night's sleep, after an energetic afternoon and evening exploring the area in the thick snow. The location was idyllic. Only a short walk to Ironbridge and a range of attractions. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked to order with top notch quality produce, perfectly cooked. Sarah and James were very welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. I would definitely go again. Thanks, Sarah and James.

An excellent guest house conveniently located for Ironbridge

My daughter and I had a lovely weekend. very comfortable room and a very good breakfast.We stayed in the annex, and the only problem we had was with the hot water which was temperamental.

We enjoyed our stay at Calcutts House. Lovely spacious room, great breakfast, friendly hospitable host. Great pub for evening meal with walking distance, we went to The Half Moon, exceptional.Just a shame we couldn’t see the bridge due to scaffolding, but we will come back when it’s all completed. We visit Telford once a year for the IPMS Scale ModelWorld Show and we have stayed at Calcutts House every year for over 10 years. In that time we have probably been in every room and every one has been warm (even in the middle of November), extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast is tasty, varied and substantial and nothing is too much trouble. The house sits in a beautiful area, close to the river. It is quiet and tranquil yet ideally situated for the local areas of interest and Telford. We always book ahead for next year as we enjoy ourselves so much. I would highly recommend Calcutts House if you are visiting this interesting part of the country.

We treated my 88 year old Mum to a short trip to Ironbridge in the beautiful county of Shropshire. We found Calcutta house on line and thought it looked just the job for our over night stay. It didn't disappoint. Mum particularly loved it. Breakfast fab! She wants to go back later in the year.

We spent two nights at Calcutts House, in the Lord Dundonald room which has a four-poster bed. The building is a wonderful and characterful old house located very conveniently for local attractions. The room was very comfortable with an en-suite shower.Our hosts were very friendly, and the breakfasts were very good. I would heartily recommend Calcutts House.

Stayed whilst attending a conference at the Telford International Centre. Got lost on the way there due to various road closures, James, was great guiding me in by phone and having a cup of tea ready and waiting for me when I got there. Felt very safe travelling as a love female, good cooked breakfast and alternative options available.

Its taken a while for us to get round to reviewing Calcutts House but better late than never.We had a fine welcome from the owner who made us feel at home and comfortable immediately he spoke to us.The location could not be bettered for us as it was central to all the Ironbridge attractions we wanted to visit at the same time being only a few minutes pleasant walk to the Ironbridge itself.Calcutts House is clean and fresh with a lovely garden and very private. Breakfast was delicious and well presented and the hotelier had just the right balance between being helpful, informative and friendly at the same time as being very aware that clients sometimes need their own space.We'd stay there again without question.Oh yes, must mention the parking which felt very safe and not visible from the road. Many thanks for a very happy stay.

We stayed at The Calcutts for one night to attend a friend's wedding in Ironbridge. We were welcomed by James who was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were separate to the main house with access via stairs. Our room was cosy, clean and well presented. There was tea, coffee, biscuits and a TV in the room. The bed was comfy and we had a very good nights sleep. The bathroom was also clean and well presented but extremely small. If you are particularly tall or on the large side, it would be a struggle to navigate to the shower without having to fold yourself around the door. This wasn't a major issue for us as we only stayed one night. Breakfast was the highlight for us. On arrival you fill in a ticklist of exactly what is available in terms of your cooked breakfast so you are not having to reel off a list or leave things you dont like. Cereals, fresh fruit and juices were also available. James was very accomodating and quick to "top up" anything else you wanted. Overall a lovely little guest house, in a good location.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely. The room, which wasn't in the main house but in the coach house, was small (tiny bathroom) with low beams and a slanting ceiling was adequate for an overnight stay. The bed was comfy. Although it stated on the details that there is free wifi it was not available in my room, only in the main house.

We stayed in the coach house, it was homely and felt cosy. My only negative was that our upstairs neighbours were quite noisy moving around at unfortunate hours. The breakfast was lovely, however my husband was disappointed that there was no baked beans and hash browns. Reasonable price for the quality that we received, we will more than likely return in the next few months before our baby is born

Easy to find Sat-Nav took us directly there but arriving at the side were not sure if it was the right place expected to see the view shown on the web.Also we were a bit surprised to find ourselves out of the house and in the coach house.However, it was very clean, comfortable, very friendly and the breakfasts were great.Would recommend it to anyone.

Calcutts House is situated in a quiet area and close to the Tile museum and a scenic stroll to the Coalport China Museum.James the proprietor was very attentive. The room was very comfortable, but the bedside lamps were very dim for reading by.In all we would recommend this historic house for it's comfort and central location.

Calcutt House is perfectly located for visiting the Ironbridge Gorge. There are a number of nice riverside pubs a short walk away. We had rooms in the Coach House which were a little on the small side (particularly the bathrooms) but comfortable enough. Breakfast was perfect as were our hosts.

Ideal location for Iron bridge museums and surrounding historic and interesting sites.Our room was very pleasant, clean with a large bathroom. My only niggle, the water temperature to the shower,(drop feed)was spasmodic. As with 18th Century plumbing, the addition of an electric shower would have been perfect. The staff were helpful and friendly.(nothing too much trouble) The food was excellent, well presented, of a high standard, and reasonably priced.

We only stayed for the one night, in the coach house, with low ceilings but very quaint. The location was perfect just a short walk to pubs and town center. We had a choice of breakfast chosen the previous evening and I must say the breakfast was delicious and plenty of it, choice of cereals was on offer also as well as juices and more toast if required and all beautifully cooked, highly recommended

stayed here 8 years ago so ill try to review with fresh eyes. Very helpfull owner, breakfast good but i would add beans and hash browns to menu then i would give breakfast 5 stars. when we entered the garage room the bed sheets felt very slightly damp, tricky in an outside room to cure. bed was comfortable and good pillows. lots of parking space. i would however and this is only an opinion, remove the loose ends on the 4 poster, there too big for the room. swap the tv and tea making facility around and put a cnest of draws next to the tv for the tea stuff to sit on. put another chair in and he presto a mini lounge at the end of the bed. And by taking away the huge bedposts if peaople want to watch in bed they can just turn the set through 90deg. no complaints though.

We recently stayed for 2 nights at Calcutts House in Ironbridge.I made this booking because of the history of both the area and the house, and was certainly not disappointed.It is a very interesting area with a unique history, and Calcutts House was just what I had hoped for with large well appointed rooms and old world charm. We had an enormous 4 poster bed!James made us very welcome, and gave advice on getting around the area and where to eat.Breakfast was lovely with pots of real coffee.I highly recommend Calcutts House.

We stayed at Calcutts and visited several museums during our stay and were able to walk to many of the places we visited. The accommodation was good with ample parking. The breakfasts were excellent and the hosts friendly and helpful.We would stay here again.

We was made to feel very welcome with a offer of a very nice cup of tea for us.Bedroom very nice, but shower room a bit on the small side.

We booked two rooms for one night, the twin room was lovely but the double was quite small and the ensuite extremely cramped, we also only had a skylight with no view which was a shame. James was extremely welcoming and gave us information on where to dine. The breakfast was lovely- good quality food well cooked and presented. It is a little walk into Ironbridge but was pleasant , along a disused railway line. A lovely area and a comfortable nights stay.

I stayed at Calcutts house for three nights with my 7-year old son.We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived, help with carrying bags upstairs, separate bed made up for my young man, excellent breakfasts and a nice but not intrusive level of interest in what we were planning to do with the stay.The room was very comfortable and clean.Loads to do in Iron Bridge with a youngster and a great pub, the Black Swan, just 200m walk.We would love to come back soon before our Iron Bridge passport expires and would not hesitate to stay at Calcutts House again.

Calcutts House is a very attractive old house full of character and yet comfortable and welcoming and ideally located for exploring The Iron Gorge Heritage Museums.We travelled as two mature couples one of which from overseas on a visit to the UK. We both enjoyed our stay and felt very welcome by our host James from the moment we arrived.We stayed in the upper rooms of the stable bloc and if I wanted to nit pic I would say that the ensuites we rather cramped, however the price of the rooms reflect this and our stay was very pleasant and comfortable nevertheless. We would certainly stay here again if we return to the area.Thank you James for the hospitality and lovely breakfasts.

What a lovely place to stay from the time we pulled on the car park till the time we left. We arrived way to early to check in but was greeted by the owner who was the most pleasant man and was allowed to leave our vechicles and go and have a day round Iron Bridge. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable, also very quiet. The breakfast and service every morning was fab. We will definatley be coming back.

Had read lots of favourable comments about the hospitality that James and Sara give and I can only say that it well passed our expectations. Comfort, good breakfasts and beautiful friendly period house made it a delight and the close proximity to the gorge attractions made it perfect for we three.

What a little gem, couldn't have asked for a nicer host. The house itself is beautiful. Breakfast was really good. If you are thinking of visting Ironbridge, I would highly recommend Calcutts House as your B&B.

We stayed overnight enroute from Pembrokshire back to Durham, having never previously visited Ironbridge. The Calcutts House is only a mile away from the Ironbridge- a delightful walk along an old railway track, close to the river Severn, so ideally situated for sightseeing.The B&B welcomed our dog, as well as us. We had a lovely room in the Old coachhouse, breakfast was fresh fruit salad, Greek yoghourt, and perfectly cooked, good quality full English breakfast from a good selection of bacon, egg, sauagae, mushroom, tomato, black pudding etc. Even the toast was really good bread. We even left with a flask of hot tea for the journey.The venue itself is a beautifully restored Grade 2 building, with lots of thoughtful attention to detail to make a visitor's life more comfortable. We had a coffee on the patio on arrival, and enjoyed a late night drink there- for less clement evenings, there is a residents' lounge.We will visit again, and can heartily recommend James and Sarah as very friendly hosts.

Beautiful house with lovely hosts.I stated in the coach house which was cosy, the bathroom was tiny so a bit of twisting and turning required but provided all the basics.Breakfast was lovely, perfectly poached eggs.

This is our second visit to Calcutts House and it was as enjoyable as the first. James and Sarah are excellent hosts, very welcomng and nothing was too much trouble. The house is close to all the museums in Ironbridge so walking is very much an option.The rooms are quirky, with creaky floors and gaps in the doors but that is all part of the charm. Excellent breakfast is provided.

We stayed at Calcutts House for our 6th (iron) wedding anniversary and wow! what service!!! We had a bottle of champagne chilled ready for us and nothing was too much trouble. Fresh coffee, lots of information about the area and a very welcoming host is definitely what you need for a weekend away. We were told to book breakfast that night ready for the morning and this is such a great idea....the next morning, breakfast was waiting for us and it was amazing. thank you for making our weekend so special

Calcutts house is set in the most beautiful grounds very peaceful and very pretty. The rooms are perfect very clean and very comfortable beds. Great facilities in the room and most of all very friendly from arriving there to leaving. We are looking to stay again in late September or mid October.Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay, everything spotlessly clean, lovely breakfast and smiling hosts!We found the Coachhouse room a bit of a challenge, as we are both in our late 70's, but perhaps we should have mentioned this, when booking. Thank you for two nice nights stay!

This is a delightful establishment and extremely well located to see all that the area has to offer. Most are within walking distance. The owners were very helpful, very friendly and made us very welcome, offering us coffee on arrival (a nice touch). There was a very good breakfast. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.

Lovely setting within the gorge and within easy, pleasant walking distance of The Iron Bridge itself. Clean, quiet, comfortable accommodation in the coach-house. (Only caveat...modern conversion with roof-light but no view out...would ask for room in main house next time).Very warm welcome with tea/coffee immediately provided on terrace.Excellent breakfast to our choice.We were touring with German friends and anxious to please them.This accommodation contributed considerably to their enjoyment.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival with coffee in the court yard. Our room in the coach house was well appointed and spotless. When we mentioned the hard mattress they bought a mattress topper which made all the difference. Thank you. Breakfast was cooked to order and coild not be faulted. Perfectly cooked on piping hot plates. Relaxed atmisphere and very quiet. Also situated within walking distance ftom all 10 attractions. Would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay at Calcutts Guest a House.It is ideally situated for exploring aero bridge and the surrounding area. There is plenty of parking around the accommodation. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and do a good job of making sure that guests needs are catered for.Rooms are comfortable,breakfasts are well cooked and well presented.

Following our arrival at Calcutts House we was met by James who gave us a very warm welcome and gave us a hand with our luggage to our first floor room. James gave us advice on the best places to have an evening meal. We had a comfortable stay there and the breakfast was well cooked and presented,with the offer of extra toast and coffee if wanted. Calcutts House is ideal as a base for visiting the museums which were great. If we were to return to this area Calcutts House would be our first choice for a place to stay.

After a fairly heavy three months this year we were looking for a comfortable place to stay in peaceful surroundings and in an area we had not visited before. We found this and much more at Calcutts House. A very comfortable bedroom, excellent breakfasts, a warm welcome and hosts who were most helpful and very peaceful surroundings gave us just what we were looking for. We certainly hope to return one day.

Nice quiet room and comfy bed. There was lots of lovely little decorative touches. Would have helped if they had told us about the electric heater though as we stayed in the smaller building next to the main house and it was very cold at night. Excellent location in walking distance of the ironbridge gorge. The owner was very welcoming and the breakfast was absolutely fantastic!! lots of choice. Very good value for money. Deffo would stay there again.

We stayed in the coach house in one of the attic rooms. It was quite small with sloping ceilings so not a lot of standing room, but we knew this as it was mentioned in the booking details and was quite sufficient for one night. It had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. James the owner was friendly and helpful. My husband loved the big breakfast, with plenty of choice. Great location for all Ironbridge attractions.One word of advice- pre book a restaurant for evening meal. We didn't and struggled to find somewhere.

We spent three nights in this delightful B and B.It is well positioned for the museums in the Gorge and also for exploring the area.The House and facilities were excellent and the owners were very welcoming and attentive.Private parking on site and resident's sitting room plus a delightful breakfast room overlooking the garden added to the experience.The breakfasts were very good and the offer of tea on arrival created the right note. One of the best we have stayed at and at a sensible price.

We stayed in the Lord Dundonald room for our wedding night and a number of our party stayed at Calcutts too before and after. We were all made very welcome, James and Sarah were very accommodating and everything was perfect. Couldn't have asked for more.

A warm welcome into an interesting house with a traditional English lounge for guests to use and enjoy at leisure. The real asset of Calcutts House, in the village of Jackfield, is its very convenient location just outside Ironbridge but still very close to the attractions. The view from the house is delightful, it's close to the interesting Jackfield Tile Museum (also an important part of the heritage of the area) and close to the excellent quality and outstandingly good value cooking of the Black Swan pub. There is no hesitation recommending this B&B

We was looking to stay close to Telford International Centre but unfortunately everything was booked. I came across Calcutts House, read the reviews and decided to book. A good choice as the house was lovely and the service was great. James was very welcoming and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay just a shame it was so short.

Calcutta House is very comfortable and the Owners were great hosts, very warm and polite. The room was enormous and pleasantly decorated. Good breakfast.Only downside - very cold! Take your warmest pyjamas if staying in the winter. The heating went off at night, they did supply extra blankets and a hot water bottle but too cold for me! I would stay again in the summer.

A warm welcome awaited me at Calcutts House which after a 3 hour drive was appreciated.My room was lovely and the bed very comfortableI was the only guest but in the morning it was laid up as normal with fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal, juice etc for me to help myself to and a delicious cooked breakfast arrived within minutes.

Stayed 2 nights in mid-November and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accomodation and breakfasts. The 'resident's lounge made it almost like a guesthouse and we would happily retur to share our time with the delghtful owners.

A beautiful house in a lovely spot. We stayed in one of the very cosy coach houses. We were welcomed with a cup of tea in the drawing room and a very warm introduction to the house from the owner and his wife. Highly recommended- delicious breakfast too by the way!

Wonderful old 18th Century house to get you in the right mind set for visiting historic Ironbridge. Nice hosts, lovely bedroom and great breakfasts.On a practical note, plenty of safe parking at the rear of the house and the Tile factory is just around the corner. We stayed two nights and it took us 2 1/2 days to get around all the Museum's sites in the area, so you need at least two days minimum if your there to visit the Museum/sites. Highly recommended.

I stayed here with my mother, in two separate rooms in the coachhouse.The downstairs room was larger and more comfortable, but I didn't have a problem with the upstairs room..... We received a very warm welcome, with fresh coffee. James was the ideal host, able to point us in the right direction for good food etc... Calcutts House is an excellent base from which to visit the attractions in and around the Ironbridge Gorge.The houses's quiet location is a good starting point for walking and cycling. The house is characterful and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. The hosts are welcoming and helpful.

We stayed at Calcutts House four years ago, and chose it again for its comfort and convenience as a good stopping point on the way west or north. The B&B has changed hands since our last visit, but the high standard is the same: welcoming host serving tea in the lounge, good parking, nicely appointed room, good breakfast. Wifi spotty in the coach house but fine in the house proper. We would certain return to Calcutts.

The entire 7 couple bridal party were put up at the Calcutts by James and Sarah and we couldn't have been welcomed more, 7 couples and a toddler were given the space we needed to relax and use their home as needed to get ready for the big day and to relax beforehand. Breakfasts were brilliant, a really full spread and a lovely relaxed atmosphere to wake up in. We all regularly travel to see our friends in Ironbridge, some of us have stayed here before and we'll not ever hesitate to come back. Thank you so much!

Enjoyed a fantastic visit to Calcutts House. Situated on the picturesque banks of the River Severn it is a lovely building with lots of character. Our room was superb decorated in period style with great attention to detail. All of the premises were spotlessly cleaned and the breakfast was excellent quality, one of the best we've ever had. Our hosts were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Our only regret is that we only stayed the one night. We definitely will be returning.

We had a lovely 4 night stay at Calcutts.We were greeted by James with a much appreciated pot of tea after our long journey.He was so friendly, offering us tips of where to eat, places to visit and information about the house itself and the area.Our large room was a delight with a very comfortable bed.The breakfasts were to be highly recommended.A refreshing fresh fruit salad followed by a hearty cooked breakfast served in such a relaxed atmosphere set us up for the day.Nothing was too much trouble for the owners.A great break.

Breakfast was excellant.Everyone in our group of 12 was happy with their rooms.We stayed in one of the rooms above the coach house which could be a problem for tall or larger guests as the ceiling slopes and the bathroom is quite compact. Having said that it had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Handy for local pubs and is a short walk into Ironbridge.

We had the upper rooms in the Coach House which had limited headroom, the shower room was small but perfectly adequate for our needs (we were warned beforehand that it would not be suitable if you were on the tall side).The breakfast was excellent with good choiceWe will definitely stay here again but if staying for more than one night would request a room in the main house. We would add that it was excellent value for money.

Calcutts House is in the perfect position to visit all that Ironbridge has to offer. The owners James and Sarah were excellent hosts and provided a great cooked breakfast, the porridge was really good, and there was always a cup of tea ready for you. Nothing was too much trouble. I would change my choice of room if I stayed again. The Coach House is just as described and I should have realised that it would be too low and small for us. My own fault for not reading the details. I would definitely return to Calcutts House if we visit Ironbridge again.
